Wednewsday 26th August

Image of the Week: the stunning trailer for Cloud Atlas has now been followed with a collection of equally stunning promotional banners. Expect this highly-ambitious novel adaptation to win over audiences and award ceremonies next February.

Good News: Homeland sweeps the Emmys, which were held on Sunday evening, winning awards for Claire Danes, Damian Lewis, the writing team and the gong for Outstanding Drama Series. Other big winners included the much-loved comedy Modern Family.

Bad News: ageing franchise The Mummy (a great film with two poor sequels) is being rebooted. The team set to launch the reboot is not promising: Director Len Wiseman (who helmed the Total Recall remake), producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Transformers 3) and writer Jon Spaihts (Prometheus co-writer).

Mad News: the bonkers proposal for a female Expendables was more than just a rumour. They have now cast its lead: Gina Carano, the kick-ass lead from Steven Soderbergh's Haywire. Expect further casting announcements to roll out over the next few months.

Trailer News: following the unveiling of the new Hobbit trailer last week, we have now been treated to four alternative endings to the trailer. All hilarious. You can watch them below.
